Dialysis patients in Can Gio are out of the scene of ferries, cars, and renting accommodation
At exactly 9 a.m. on October 18, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, leaders of Can Gio District Party Committee, the Board of Directors of Le Van Thinh Hospital and a number of guest delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Artificial Kidney Unit at Can Gio District Medical Center.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tham, 45 years old, is a native of Go Cong Dong (Tien Giang) who has followed her husband to Can Gio land for many years. 5 years ago, Ms. Tham unfortunately suffered from chronic kidney failure and was forced to undergo kidney dialysis. Due to the remote conditions, she had to take 1 ferry and many buses to reach Hospital 115, the doctors here helped her with peritoneal dialysis techniques for kidney dialysis at home. After 4 years, Ms. Tham no longer responded to peritoneal dialysis, so she had to undergo artificial dialysis.
Every week, she undergoes kidney dialysis 3 times a week at Nha Be District Hospital (closer than Hospital 115 from Ms. Tham’s house), but she can’t go home in the morning and afternoon, but rent an inn next to the hospital, and only go home on weekends. Ms. Shen said that partly because she was tired, partly because traveling was also expensive, not much different from renting an inn, so she chose to stay near the hospital for health.
Or the news that Can Gio District Health Center had an artificial kidney unit, Ms. Tham was very happy, registered for dialysis immediately.
Similar to Ms. Tham, Ms. Tran Thi Nha Phuong, 32 years old, living in An Thoi Dong commune, Can Gio district, was moved to tears because today was the first day she received dialysis in Can Gio, not by car, via ferry to Nha Be District Hospital for dialysis as in the past more than a year
